WP4 was originally intended to take a proof-of-concept and bring it to
commercialization. Recent progress by the Aquaporin A/S partner in developing a hollow fiber
(HF) module with aquaporin membranes has been obtained, where the
membrane is made by a coating process in an existing HF ultrafiltration module.
They hold great up-scaling potential and by using existing
modules as form factors the road to market can be shortened
considerably.
Once fabricated, aquaporin HF modules will be supplied directly to WP3
(waste water treatment), WP5 (fertigator production) and WP6 (biorefinery
separation). This will thus support the synergy in IBISS and serve to
reduce risks on the road to market introductions in these segments.
